For nearly 15 years I have been involved in health law and operations and have gained extensive experience with, among other things, physician/hospital relations, managed care contracting, and health care compliance. During this time I played a key role in the Pioneer Valley helping shape health care providers’ responses to health care reform. I educated physician and hospital leaders on both Massachusetts and federal health care reform legislation while advising on the practical effects of expanded coverage.
After graduating magna cum laude from Western New England University School of Law, I began my legal career working at a large Connecticut law firm, concentrating in the corporate, employee benefits, and health care departments. I assisted large and small organizations by drafting transactional and administrative documents for health care entities, tax-exempt entities, and ERISA plans. I negotiated a variety of contracts, from software licenses to vendor agreements to administrative services agreements. I helped to form, maintain and develop a range of corporate entities while also drafting motions and memoranda for federal and state agency hearings and appeals.
I recently completed extensive training in both community-based mediation as well as specialized training in mediating health care disputes. I volunteer at regional courts for alternative dispute resolution and am listed on the American Health Lawyers Association’s panel of neutrals as a health care mediator.
